In whatever form, tithing symbolizes that prosperity comes from the Lord's favor, not our efforts. To busy ourselves, as the Lord says, with "building your own fine houses" while neglecting the needs of his house affects our ability to prosper (Haggai 1:9:. David prayed, "Everything we have has come from you; and we give you only what you have already given us!" (1 Chronicles 29:14) Remembering this makes us better stewards of God's riches.

How do you rate yourself as a steward of God?
